Government Grant Assists Moroccan Women

The Middle East Partnership Initiative, located within the U.S. Department of State, supports efforts to expand political participation, strengthen civil society and the rule of law, empower women and youth, create educational opportunities, and foster economic reform throughout the Middle East and North Africa. In rural Morocco, the MEPI-funded small grants program is helping local women live out their dreams. One such woman, Fatma Rouhi, who never went to school, is now president of a local cooperative. Through the assistance of a MEPI grant to the Association of the DRA Valley, or ADEDRA, she and other women like her are contributing in meaningful ways to the development of her villages.
