Field Trip Mission Enacted
Wed, Nov 26, 2008
The foundation’s November field trip to Morocco proved to be successful in reaching its two-fold aim: to speak with representatives from both governmental and non-governmental sectors with specific knowledge of Amazigh culture and their needs, and secondly, to meet nomadic peoples and witness firsthand, their living conditions and state-of-being.
In Rabat, the Sahara Children Foundation met with representatives from the Peace Corps, the US Embassy, the High Atlas Foundation, and Cross Cultural Solutions.
In Tagounite, we met with the friendly folks at Adrapac and continued on with them to the Chegaga region where we spent time with a nomadic family. The following day, the five board of directors visited a desert school funded by L’Association Developpement Vie Nomades and Share: Human Life Project.
We spoke with members of the ORMVA de Ouarzazate—the Department of Agriculture and the Near East Foundation, also located in Ouarzazate.
Some discussions were valuable for information gathering while others encouraged possible collaborations on specific projects.
